I am a product of ABC schools (Bragg, Haskell and Gahr) and graduated Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminal Justice. I am currently working on my Master's Degree from the University of San Diego in Law Enforcement Leadership. Education is extremely important to me, and I am very much involved in my children's education. I'm familiar with IXL learning, reflex math, accelerated reading (AR), typing agent, Pearson realize and many other programs. I want to keep class sizes as small as possible and get our students back in the classroom as soon as it is safe to do so. Virtual and hybrid learning are the two options that the County and State are offering us, but there is nothing better than five days a week in the classroom with our outstanding teachers. As Chair of the Facilities Committee, I surveyed all of the schools in the ABC District. I couldn't believe it, but the schools looked like they did when I attended them in the 80's and 90's. Our committee created a new Facilities Master Plan, and I'm proud to report that we trimmed the fat and cut $377 million from the previous plan. We cut "wish list" items and focused on what would make our kids safer and improve their educational experience. Measure BB was put on the ballot by the Board a short time later and whether we like it or not, it barely passed. Now, we are all paying higher property taxes, and I can assure you that I will make sure that the funds are spent in accordance with the Facilities Master Plan. It would be ideal if we could finish all of our projects and return some money to the taxpayers.
